Hello, my name is Eliam Torres.
My foundation was built early through my dedication to community-focused programs, including 4-H, Boy Scouts, and the Latino Leadership Program, where I participated for four years. These experiences, combined with my bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, have been instrumental in shaping my professional path.I have been a dedicated member of the workforce since the age of 13. My diverse professional background spans several industries, including agriculture, food service, education, construction, telemarketing, and account management. This range of experience has provided me with a unique perspective and an adaptable, hard-working mindset. Driven by culture and education, I relocated to Puerto Rico to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico. As a first-generation college graduate in my family.
Currently, I serve in the mental health field, bringing with me approximately 20 years of direct and indirect experience. Throughout my career, I have held various roles, including drug and alcohol counselor, behavioral health technician, and blended case manager. These positions have provided me with a deep, nuanced understanding of how to manage and support mental health across diverse populations and generations.
My parents, who were born and raised in Puerto Rico, relocated to Erie to build a better life, and they instilled in me a deep appreciation for my culture and the importance of resilience. My ultimate goal is to honor that legacy by continuing to support our community, promoting meaningful change and inclusion, and serving as a dedicated role model for the next generation.
